This transceivers useMaxim's revolutionary AutoShutdown Plus feature to achieve 10nA supply current.This device shut down the on-board power supply and drivers when they do notsense a valid signal transition on either the receiver or transmitter inputs.This occurs if the RS232 cable is disconnected or if the transmitters of theconnected peripheral are turned off. The devices turn on again when a validtransition is applied to any RS232 receiver or transmitter input. AutoShutdownPlus automatically achieves power savings through its on-board circuitry, as nochanges are required to the existing BIOS or operating system.
