Thisdevice supervises microprocessor (µP) activity and signal when a system isoperating improperly. During normal operation, microprocessor should repeatedlytoggle the watchdog input (WDI) before the selected watchdog timeout periodelapses to demonstrate that the system is processing code properly. If the µPdoes not provide a valid watchdog input transition before the timeout periodexpires, the supervisor asserts a watchdog (WDO- complementary) output to signalthat the system is not executing the desired instructions within the expectedtime frame. The watchdog output pulse can be used to reset the µP or interruptthe system to warn of processing errors.
