Product OverviewThe MAX8520ETP+ is a smallest TEC power driver for optical modules in 20 pinTQFN package. It is designed to drive thermo electric coolers (TECs) in spaceconstrained optical modules. It delivers ±1.5A output current and control TECcurrent to eliminate harmful current surges. On-chip FETs minimize externalcomponents and high switching frequency reduces size of external components. Itoperates from a single supply and bias TEC between outputs of two synchronousbuck regulators. This operation allows for temperature control without 'deadzones' or other nonlinearities at low current. This arrangement ensures thatcontrol system does not hunt when set-point is very close to natural operatingpoint, requiring small amount of heating or cooling. An analogue control signalprecisely sets TEC current.
