MAXWELL & WILLIAMS: Maxwell and Williams is an Australian tableware brand started in 1995. Harry and Anna Grundmann (H.A.G.) , Maxs parents. Holocaust survivors, the Grundmanns immigrated to Australia in 1961. Harry was working for a homewares wholesaler when the business refused to pass on a $1 increase in the car allowance. Harry resigned a blessing in disguise. He started his own business and H.A.G. was born. Originally based in a Brighton garage, it has become a multi-national success story. Max joined the fledgling business as the junior salesman in 1974 and built the whole notion of branded homewares. Then in 1978, his father suffered a heart attack and stepped away from the business to recuperate. Bill (William) Ryan, a retailer, joined. With Bills expertise in finance and Maxs prowess in buying and selling, this partnership would rock the homewares world. The search for the appropriate name for this new brand came to a head in 1996 after holidaying in Florence and the name Maxwell & Williams was born. SO WHAT MAKES THIS BRAND STAND OUT FROM THE REST? ITS HOW WELL YOU COMBINE THE COMMERCIAL AND THE AESTHETIC THAT DETERMINES HOW CAPABLE AND HOW CREDIBLE AND HOW COMPELLING YOUR PRODUCT IS. MAXS PERSONAL FLAIR COMES FROM THE MARRIAGE OF THESE TWO ELEMENTS. The ceramic white porcelain are imported from China but All of Maxwell & Williams ranges are designed in Australia. Maxwell & Williams aslo collaborate with Australian Artists and are proud to celebrate home grown talent. Working with artists such as Katherine Castle, Peter Cromer, Marini Ferlazzo, Melanie Hava, Neha Gupte, Royal Botanic Gardens Victoria and various others.
