The medal is a MBE and was awarded as part of the Kings New Year Honours in 1946. The medal was issued to a lady and as such the medal is known as MBE (Mily).
The medal was awarded to Flight Officer Helen Bayne of the Southern Rhodesian Women's Auxiliary Air Service. As this was a military award the only information in the public domain is her name, rank and arm of service (as listed above).
Notice of F/O Bayne's award was published in a Supplement to The London Gazette of 28 December 1945 (the Supplement itself being published on 1 January 1946). You may view her entry by visiting the website of The London Gazette (www.gazettes-online.co.uk). The Supplement's Gazette Issue Number is 37407 and F/O Bayne's entry appears on the right hand column of page 48.
The medal is in good condition, the original box and with the notice on how the medal should be worn.
