These ancient silver coins were struck from the 12th to the 14th centuries. For more information, please see this link.

These coins feature the image of Christ on one side and the Doge, or Duke of Venice and Saint Mark on the other. Many of them, like this one, were holed in medieval times to be carried around the neck like modern St Christopher pendants.
