Meissen red stoneware portrait bust of Goethe modelled by Christian Rauch 19th Century

Offered for sale is a fine and rare 19th Century Meissen portrait bust of the famous  18th Century German poet,author ,novelist , dramatist and statesman and botanist/scientist  Johann Wolfgang Von Goethe who died in 1832. This is a red stoneware miniature bust with an integrated pedestal base modelled by Christian Daniel Rauch. The piece most likely dates from the mid to late 19th Century.  The bust is signed with the famous Meissen crossed swords mark on the rear of the base and also on the rear of the rectangular plinth which supports the portrait bust. Meissen produced various commemorative portrait busts and statues celebrating Goethe's life . Similar items sell on auction in Europe for 500 euros plus.
