Sangiovese blend with a small percentage of complementary grapes, mainly Merlot, which enhance and round off the wine’s overall flavour profile.[/toggle_lite][toggle_lite title="About the Producer" opened=""]Since 1705, Melini has been one of the foremost Chianti producers: its present foundations rest on a modern approach to the great Chianti tradition and on a quest for high quality straight from the vineyard. The results obtained are epitomized by products such as Chianti Classico Riserva Granaio, Terrarossa, Massovecchio and Selvanella, wines that have gained prestigious acknowledgements in Italy and throughout the world.[/toggle_lite][toggle_lite title="Grapes" opened=""]90% Sangiovese Grosso
10% complementary varieties.[/toggle_lite][toggle_lite title="Vineyard" opened=""]The grapes are sourced exclusively from areas traditionally acclaimed for their happy combination of soil, position and climate; the vineyards, of relatively recent establishment and high density, are trained by the Guyot and spurred cordon systems on well exposed terrain made up of “alberese” and “galestro”, the two typical soils in the Chianti area of Tuscany.[/toggle_lite][toggle_lite title="Vinification" opened=""]The grapes, harvested by hand when perfectly ripe, are fermented on the skins with 15 days of maceration and frequent pumping over. Fermentation takes place at controlled temperature (25-27°).[/toggle_lite][toggle_lite title="Ageing" opened=""]The wine gains harmony and smoothness from its ageing in French oak barrels for 12 months. It is then allowed to rest for several months in the bottle before being released for consumption.[/toggle_lite][toggle_lite title="Tasting Notes" opened=""]Very bright ruby red colour with a bouquet redolent of wild berries, ripe grapes, irises and violets and with an elegant hint of vanilla in the background. The flavour is well-defined and engaging, smooth but well sustained, with an enticing foundation of jam and almonds.[/toggle_lite][toggle_lite title="Analysis" opened=""]13.5% alcohol volume.[/toggle_lite][toggle_lite title="Food Suggestions" opened=""]The wine represents a perfect match for fresh and seasoned cheeses, grilled or roast meats and will accompany any dish of the Italian Cuisine.

Serving temperature: 18-20°C.[/toggle_lite][toggle_lite title="Cellar" opened=""]6-8 years in bottles stored horizontally in cool dark conditions.[/toggle_lite]
