It is native to southern Africa, where it is found in south and east Namibia, southwest Botswana, and most of South Africa. Melolobium candicans commonly known as Heuningbossie, Heuningbos, Stroopbos, Stroopbossie or Voëltjie-kan-nie-sit-nie in Afrikaans and Honey Bush in English is a thorny shrub that grows up to 1 meter tall. It has three-foliate leaves. It bears pale yellow pea flowers and is usually found growing in dry areas. It is a South African indigenous species that is found in the Eastern Cape, Free State, Northern Cape, North West and Western Cape Provinces.
