Memories of a Game Ranger - Harry Wolhuter - Text illustrations by C.T. Astley-Maberley - 288pp, index - Paperback in good condition - Internally: slight browning of pages but clean and tightly bound.

"I was riding quietly along when two lions approached, obviously intending to attack. Although I had my rifle, there was no time to shoot, and I dug the spurs into my horse's flanks in a frantic effort to escape. But the lions were already too close. Before the horse could get into its stride I felt a terrific inpact behind me as a lion alighted on the horse's hindquarters ..."

So begin a nightmare journey. Dragged by his shoulder for sixty yards by a fully-grown lion, the game ranger at the Kruger National Park had to think fast. But Harry Wolhuter had always kept a cool head in his lifetime of danger inn the bush, even in the jaws of a terrible death.
