Hardcover published by Faber & Faber, undated, but preface by the author is dated august, 1937. No Jacket. The boards are worn and scuffed in places, with a large dark stain midway up the spine, and the corners are bumped. The bookplate of a previous owner is pasted to the inside front board, and the page opposite contains a taped in newspaper clipping relating to the death of the author, as well as a pen gift inscription. These pages are lightly spotted, and there is a crack to the paper at the binding at the bottom, showing some underlying netting. The rear board and end-papers are in a similar condition. The rough cut pages are otherwise clean and unmarked, and the fold-out genealogy at the end of the book is present and intact.
