Meteor Mens Watch 17 Jewels Manual Windup Military Style Numerals Red 2nd Hand Vintage 1940s Army Trade Pattern Shock and Water Resistent Antimagnetic

VINTAGE 1940S METEOR MILITARY STYLE MECHANICAL 30MM WINDUP WATCH. IT IS SHOCK RESISTENT, WATER RESISTENT AND ANTIMAGNETIC. CHARACTERIZED BY A WHITE/CREAM DIALS, A SUBSIDIARY RED SECONDS DIAL, A RAILROAD MINUTE TRACK ON THE OUTSIDE. LOTS OF SCRATCHES TO GLASS. CAN SET TIME BUT CANNOT WINDUP. NOT WORKING.

A water-resistant luxury watches can withstand contact with for a certain amount of time or under certain conditions, while a waterproof watch should, in theory, be impenetrable by water. Anti-magnetic watches are designed to minimize the effects of magnetism on the watch's movement.

A number of 17 jewels is the finest amount of jewels in a watch movement as it can already be considered fully jeweled. These 17 jewels are spread in several areas from the balance wheel and all the way to the center wheel pivot.

Not sure about the Meteor brand but I know that Vulcain has used the Meteor brand in their watches and they are very exspensive. Then you get companies like Hermes and Rolex that use real meteor pieces in watches and they are even more exspensive.

ATP (ARMY TRADE PATTERN):

In WW2, for most of the conflict, the British Army used ATP (Army Trade Pattern) wristwatches. These were first issued in 1939, and they were made to follow a set of specifications outlined by the War Office. ATP watches are characterized by a white/cream dial, Arabic numerals, a railroad minute track, and luminous hands and shatterproof chrystal glass. They must also be waterproof to the standards of the era. The seventeen known brands (some of then are Buren, Cyma, Eterna, Grana, Jaeger-LeCoultre, Lemania, Longines, IWC, Omega, Record, Timor and Vertex) that supplied these watches also often supplied very similar black dialled pieces to the Germans as well.
There are reports of the first W.W.W. pieces being delivered to the British in late 1944, but it seems that most, if not all, were delivered in 1945. Which means that crucially, most of these watches might not have seen active service in World War Two, but as they remained in service for several years, its always possible a surviving watch was used in another conflict.

JEWELS IN WATCHES:
Back in the past, natural jewels, such as diamond, ruby, sapphire, and garnet were used to make them. This idea was invented by three men, Nicolas Fatio de Duillier, Peter Debaufre, and Jacob Debaufre in 1704 -- they received an English patent for this. However, the cost of making them is too expensive and thus makes the watches expensive as well. While in the modern industry, watchmakers start using synthetic sapphires and rubies. The process was introduced by Auguste Verneuil in 1902 that makes the accessibility to watch jewels much easier and cheaper.
The function of watch jewels is as valuable as jewelry for a watch -- although they are not the real ones. They are used in a mechanical watch to help the gears perform well. How do they work? We know mechanical watches do not require batteries to perform their function. As for how other mechanical devices that use gears to operate, mechanical watches are no different.
They need to keep the gears moving and remove friction as much as possible to give an accurate and reliable time. Here is where jewels come in to serve. These little stones are hard and smooth that allow the wheel train to rotate freely. They will be useful to create a very low and predictable friction interface so that the movement can run reliably. Further, the jewels' durability also helps to optimize the life of the bearings. To put it simply, jewel watches function as aids to reduce friction in the watch movement so that it works smoothly and even preserve its lifespan.
A number of 17 jewels is the finest amount of jewels in a watch movement as it can already be considered fully jeweled. These 17 jewels are spread in several areas from the balance wheel and all the way to the center wheel pivot.
