Visually a striking flower, the Mexican Hat makes good table arrangements which should last about a week when cut and placed in water. These make a lovely display for borders and bedding plants. Easy to grow from seed, this plant has many positive attributes including extreme hardiness, drought tolerance and has the ability to withstand very hot and humid conditions. In fact, it does best in really hot weather. Flowers surround a center seed cone and actually resemble sombreros. It will perform best in average or poor soil and will spread.
