Albertyn studied art under well-known artists, W H Coetzer, Victor Visser and later at the University of Stellenbosch. He is the great grandson of Otto Landsburg, an internationally acclaimed artist from Germany and the grandson of H O Jeppe, a pioneer in the diamond and gold industry in South Africa who was also a gifted artist.
