Product OverviewThe MCP23S09-E/P is an 8-bit I/O Expander with open-drain outputs. It consistsof multiple 8-bit configuration registers for input, output and polarityselection. The system master can enable I/Os as either inputs or outputs bywriting the I/O configuration bits. The data for each input or output is kept inthe corresponding input or output register. The polarity of the input portregister can be inverted with the polarity inversion register. All registers canbe read by the system master. The interrupt capture register captures portvalues at the time of the interrupt, thereby saving the condition that causedthe interrupt. The power-on reset (POR) sets the registers to their defaultvalues and initializes the device state machine.
