The PIC16F887features 256 bytes of EEPROM data memory, self programming, an ICD, 2comparators, 14 channels of 10-bit Analogue-to-digital (A/D) converter, 1capture/compare/PWM and 1 enhanced capture/compare/PWM functions, a synchronousserial port that can be configured as either 3-wire Serial Peripheral Interface(SPI) or the 2-wire Inter-Integrated Circuit (I²C) bus and an EnhancedUniversal Asynchronous Receiver Transmitter (EUSART). The PIC16F887 devices havetwo timers that offer necessary delays on power-up. One is the OscillatorStart-up Timer (OST), intended to keep the chip in reset until the crystaloscillator is stable.
