An EXCELLENT example of a 20th Century , Middle Eastern Strike 1780 Maria Theresa Thaler Silver Coin. This piece is composed of .800 - .900 Silver ( varying purity) and is a currency piece. There are several visible defects including : Malformed Letters & Missing portion of the Imperial Crown on the reverse.
The Maria Theresa Thaler ( although a European unit of tender since the 18th Century) was considered as a reliable standard of Silver currency throughout the Middle East - with the coins being reproduced in the region for legal tender well into the mid-1900s.
