LAMP & INCENSE BURNER - MIDDLE EASTERN ORIGIN
PERSIAN – TURKISH – ISLAMIC

The lamp-incense burner is in very good condition (age related wear considering)

Note:
The pristine condition of the brass, makes this item difficult to photograph. The brass and dome create a mirror effect and reflect objects in the back of the room and the ceiling where it is photographed.
Black looking marks are not dirt patches or damage.
Some reflections may appear like cracks or as if the structure is broken
Where there is real age-related wear, this is stated.
Wear related age shows in a small chip to the cup; not seen due to the covering dome
Small scratches appear as age-related wear.

Vintage object with great appearance for its age.
From the base it is supported by four elegant pillars which attach to a container with a circular plate-type landing with pierced detail and serrated, triangular edges

The inlaid container takes a candle or incense, covered by a pierced dome and a finial with generous proportions to the burner
It lends itself well as a lamp offering subdued lighting as well as an incense burner

(An attempt at burning incense)

This particular lamp/incense burner has many possible origins
Generally said to be middle eastern Persian in design
The finial design also lend it to a Moroccan or Turkish lamp/incense burner, though Turkish finials tend to be more modest
A Spanish Moorish element has been attributed to the lamp/incense burner, though  unlikely
The shapes and patterns of the piercings may also suggest Islamic heritage, despite the absence of the Crest, not necessarily always a feature of the Islamic lamps/incense burners

Age is speculative
If Moorish the lamp belongs around the 18th century
It is more likely to be Turkish-Moroccan-Persian-Islamic, which places it around the 19th century
