While the first 10 Fighting Fantasy books (with the exception of #8) were written by messrs Jackson and Livingstone the craze for these books was growing. To supply the demand other authors were brought into the fold, but not credited on the cover, which stated "Steve Jackson and Ian Livingstone Present". The author was acknowledged on the title page.
This is an interactive game book where the reader assumes the role of a hero and must make decisions, fight monsters (using dice rolls), solve puzzles and make their way through passages to reach the end.
Midnight Rogue is set in Port Blacksand, The City of Thieves (as visited in book 5). The reader has to take on the role of an apprentice thief who, to complete their training must head out on a night time quest to find a fabled jewel. The core Fighting Fantasy rules are followed but are supplemented by some special thieving rules and equipment.
The book looks like has not seen much reading, if at all.. The covers show some shelf wear, from the book being slid in and out between other books. The adventure sheet is clean if a little boring looking.. All pages present and clean and secure in binding.
Fighting Fantasy were probably the most popular gamebooks in the heyday of gamebooks era (1982 to about 1991). Quite collectible, fun to play and also useful to get children to read. Bargain start price if one compares to what other sellers are asking.
