VINTAGE (1960-1979) CERAMIC MIDWINTER LOT OF TWO LARGE BREAD & BUTTER/ENTREE PLATES AND ONE SALAD PLATE - MAYFIELD PATTERN

THREE VINTAGE ITEMS BY MIDWINTER EACH DECORATED IN THE MAYFIELD PATTERN WITH THE ACTUAL PATTERN CREATED BY JESSIE TAIT WHILE THE SHAPES OF THE RANGE WERE DESIGNED BY THE MARQUIS OF QUEENSBERRY. THE MAYFIELD PATTERN WAS RELEASED BY MIDWINTER IN 1960 AND DISCONTINUED IN 1979 AND WAS RETAILED AS PART OF THE STONHENGE RANGE.   THE PATTERN DEPICTS PASTEL COLORS IN A FLORAL DESIGN WITH A MILD OLIVE BAND AROUND THE VERGE AND A PLATINUM TRIM

DESIGNER JESSIE TAIT WORKED FOR BOTH WEDGWOOD AND JOHNSON BROS (At the time part of the Wedgwood Group), ORIGINALLY WORKING FOR MIDWINTER UNTIL ITS TAKEOVER BY WEDGWOOD WHEN HER DESIGNS CONTINUED

THE LOT CONSISTS OF -

1)- TWO (2) LARGE BREAD & BUTTER/ENTREE PLATES EACH - 2.2cm HEIGHT.....9cm DIAMETER OF BASE.....17.5cm DIAMETER OF RIM

2)- ONE SALAD PLATE - 2cm HEIGHT.....10.4cm DIAMETER OF BASE.....20cm DIAMETER OF RIM

STAMPS/MARKS : EACH ITEM IS STAMPED UNDERNEATH - "MIDWINTER FINE TABLEWARE, STAFFORDSHIRE, ENGLAND, SHAPES DESIGNED BY THE MARQUIS OF QUEENSBERRY"

CONDITION : THE SALAD PLATE HAS AGE RELATED STAINING AND ALL THREE ITEMS HAVE SOME CRAZING BUT NO CRACKS, DAMAGES, CHIPS,  ETC
