Military grade Infra-red beacon - UK issue (ISAF Afghan use)

Here we have a new, unissued military grade Infra-red beacon/ strobe with a single IR LED and powered by an 9Volt square battery.

This item was used extensively by the ISAF forces in Afghanistan and was brought back to SA from there.

IR flash not visible to the naked-eye, but used by Military forces in conjunction with passive night-vision devices as a Identification Friend or Foe (IFF) means as well as for FLOT etc. marking at night.

These beacons can also be used to mark paths, points along routes etc. and even caches of supplies for easy ID and location at night.

BTW - to those of you who do not know - IR flash or beams etc. can be seen and verified by using the digital camera on any modern smart-phone, see the following pic taken of the IR beacon on under a digital camera;

Please note that this auction does not include the 9 volt battery shown only here for demo purposes and as an indication of the units size.

Please also note that the camo SA designed (CSIR) IR strobe (with light-sensitive diode - to save battery power during the day) is also only shown for demo purposes and is NOT included in this auction.

Please note that this auction is for ONE ISAF/ UK mil issue 9 volt IR strobe in new, working condition.
