Onsale is part of a collection of Minerals and Gemstones called Treasures of TheEarth sold between 1995 -1999. A tray contain twenty different Mineralsand Gemstones (Gemstones are minerals used to make jewellery) from around theworld in their individual perspex cases. Ideal for collectors, students,budding geologists,etc. THIS LOT CONTAINS 5 EXTRA MINERALS. ALL HAVE PERSPEXBOXES EXCEPT THE ONE OF SANDSTONE.
CONDITION:Some scratches but overall everything is in good condition.

1.   Apatiteis a Phosphate rock that is used in fertilizers. Itis usually green in color, but can be blue or purple. These colors are often so vivid that apatite has frequently been cut as a gemstone.
2.   Obsidian:Obsidian is an igneousrock that forms when molten rockmaterial cools so rapidly that atoms are unable to arrange themselves into acrystalline structure. The result is a volcanic glass with a smooth uniformtexture.
3.   Chromite is important because it is the only economic ore of chromium, an essential element for a wide variety of metal, chemical, and manufactured products. Chromium is a metal used to induce hardness, toughness, and chemical resistance in steel. The alloy produced is known as "stainless steel."
4 The most obvious physical properties of chalcopyrite are its brassy yellow color. This give it a similar appearance to pyrite and gold. The name "fool's gold" is most often associated with pyrite because it is more common and more often confused with gold. Chalcopyrite is also confused with gold, so the name "fool's gold" is also applied and appropriate.
5.Alabaster has been used for centuries for statuary carvings, and other ornaments. It normally is snow-white but can be translucent in some areas.
6. Sandstone: Sandstone are made up of sand grains that have been cemented together. Like sandpaper, sandstone has a rough granular texture.
