Miniature Medal Group to 102871V Major James Ireland-Low of the South African Air Force

The recipient was born in Lyttleton, New Zealand and served in the Boer War in the New Zealand Rifles. His Queens Medal has the bars for Driefontein, Natal and the Cape Colony.

After the war he stayed in South Africa and during the First World War served in the British Navy.

In the Second World War he served in the South African Air force.

On the 1st of January 1946, the King appointed him to the Most Excellent Order of the British Empire “ …to be an additional member of the said Most Excellent Order

The miniature group is accompanied by many research documents including 4 original handwritten pages by his son.

The medals are named on the back of the group and it is stated that a reward is offered if the medals are found and returned!
