A very pretty 'tea bowl' in the 'Art Deco' period by Minton's. This little piece dates from around 1912 to 1920.
Thomas Minton founded his factory somewhere around 1796 in Stoke-on-Trent and soon became one of the most important manufacturers of pottery and porcelain in Britain. By 1798 he started introducing 'bone china' and by 1820, the quality was so good that it was regarded to be an equal of the French 'Sevres', some of their processes which he copied.
In 1912, the new version of Mintons 'print mark' was introduced (see above), with the word 'England' being replaced soon after by 'Made in England"
The 'Tea Bowl' offered above is in excellent condition with no chipping nor signs of restoration. It stands 4cm high and is 8cm in diameter. A lovely reminder of the 'Art Deco' movement of the early 1900's.
