Did belong to a library before and has their usual goodies. >>> One of the last books written by Gladys Mitchell in her long career, Here Lies Gloria Mundy is a typical cosy mystery set in semi-rural England. Corin Stratford is a freelance writer, and when he landed a job to work for a rich hotel-owning friend, he was enthusiastic about the opportunity. While discussing the job, the friend, McMaster, tells Corin about an ex-girlfriend and talks about how lucky he was to escape her clutches. Typical male chauvinist nonsense, but the one thing that stands out in this narrative is that this girl hair that is half red and half black. This is Gloria Mundy. - When Corin is invited to a house party by his friend and his wife Celia can murder be far behind? That's what house parties are for! There is also also a delightful character in the book - Celia's aunt. Obsessed with witchcraft, she quotes Malleus Maleficarum constantly. Gloria Mundy appears again, and there are clashes. There is speculation that she is a witch, especially since her female ancestor was burnt as a witch. The plot is interesting, and the setting is comfortable. (Goodreads)
