Sarracenia grow in a diverse number of habitats. Each species have unique pitcher, flower and growing characteristics. All the species in the genus can hybridize easily with one another, and what is also quite interesting and unusual, is that the seed made by these hybrids are fertile. Because they can hybridize so easily with one another and also back cross with the parent plants, and that there are so many naturally occurring hybrids, it can be argued that a pure Sarracenia species does not actually exist in the wild.
