Are you having trouble trying to cock your crossbow? Do you feel like the weight is just too much for you to pull back? If your answer was yes to either of those questions, or you just want to learn about an easier way to cock a crossbow, then you have come to the right place. Today we are going to introduce you to the rope cocking device and explain to you how it is used. Knowing this method of cocking your crossbow will prolong the lifespan of your strings and cables because it will save you the wear and tear impact of firing your crossbow. Having a rope cocking device will also save you the hassle of keeping an arrow with you to de-cock your crossbow.

Yourrope cocking aidshould initially come in a plastic bag, or some form of similar packaging. You should pull that out and take a quick look at your marvelous purchase. If you have purchased a quality rope coking device, then you will notice that the rope is going to be a bit long. They make them in this manner so that they can be universally used by a wide range of shooters. What I recommend is that you should tie a knot on one end of the string by the handle so that you can adjust it if need be. This way, you can have a tailor made fit! DO NOT CUT THE STRING, because once you cut the string there is no going back.

After you have inspected the product, it's time to load it up. At this point in the process you should make sure that there is no arrow in the crossbow (for safety reasons). I find that the easiest way to get started is to place the center of the string on the butt of your stock as it acts as a nice leverage point. Then, you should place the hooks on the cocking device onto your crossbows string. I have a preference to put the left hook on first and then go from there. During this step it does not matter whether the hooks are up or down, the only thing that matters is that they are both facing the same way.

Before you start pulling the cocking rope back, you should double check to make sure that the safety switch is in the fire position. If you do not change this, then you will not be able to engage the crossbow. Once you have double checked that, you can start pulling the rope. As you are doing this, you should make sure that the tension remains even. I recommend that you lift this like you would lift a heavy box, so you do not hurt yourself. Lifting with only your arms will tire you out, and is not as safe. You should pull straight back until you hear the click. If you have an auto engaging safety then you are set. If not, manually set your safety and you will be ready to load your arrow.

It is a known fact that a crossbow rope cocking device reduces the draw weight by at least 50%. That means that if you have a crossbow with a 150 pound draw weight, you would only need 75 pounds of pull to engage itwitha rope cocking device. They also take the burden of achieving an evenly cocked crossbow out of the equation. The design almost prohibits that from happening. This in turn makes the shooter more accurate. If there is one thing that a crossbow owner has to have, it is a rope cocking device.
