What is OTG?

OTG is an abbreviation of "On the go". It enables USB devices like mobile phones, smartphones or tablets to act as USB hosts, allowing other devices such as USB Flash drives, keyboards, mice and digital cameras to be attached to them. The most common use for OTG is when a PC acts as a host when a camera or smartphone is connected to it. As OTG compatible devices become more prevalent you will be able to bypass the PC and simply connect your camera to your smartphone.

How do I know if my tablet or smartphone is compatible with OTG?

The vast major of Smartphones and Tablets do support OTG through the micro usb port. However, if you are unsure if your device supports OTG there is an app in the Play Store called USB Host Diagnostics that can be used to determine your devices OTG host capabilities
