Also included are such American artists as Charles Willson Peale, whose full-size picture of two of his sons was lifelike that George Washington is said to have nodded in greeting as he passed. A seperate chapter introduces Manet, the great Impressionists, and their contemporaries. Another treats Cezanne, Gauguin, and the tormented Van Gogh.
