Modernist Peter Cullman 18ct Gold and Sterling Silver Neck Piece

 

The vintage, Modernist style 18ct yellow gold and sterling silver neck piece has an 18ct gold wire necklace suspending a pendant of abstract design with 18ct gold front on silver back. The pendant is embellished with a round, mixed-cut green tourmaline (approximately 6mm diameter circa 1.12ct) tube-set at the top of the pendant and with a shaped tusk motif of an organic material set into the pendant. Part of the pendant has a roughened texture; the other side is smooth with six protruding round decorations. The wire necklace is marked 18CT, The pendant is marked with the maker's name "CulIman"; a "C" mark; "18CT"; "STERLING" and the date " '73" (for 1973).

 

H. Peter Cullman was born in Berlin in 1941, and emigrated to South Africa in 1963, where he mostly lived and worked as a renowned jeweller and goldsmith until 1977, when he emigrated to Canada.
