Longer, more substantial and full of natural character, the Moldavite Necklace D 2.1g (Stainless Steel) features an individually listed piece of natural Moldavite weighing approximately 2.1g and measuring around 3 × 1.2cm. Its elongated shape gives the pendant a stronger presence while still keeping the raw green tektite itself as the main feature.
Moldavite is a rare green tektite formed during a meteorite impact around 15 million years ago. Its unusual geological origin, limited natural occurrence and distinctive sculpted textures have made it one of the most recognisable collector stones in the crystal world. At approximately 3cm long, Necklace D has a noticeably elongated profile compared with many smaller Moldavite pendants. That extra length allows more of the stone's natural shape and surface texture to remain visible, giving the pendant a slightly more dramatic silhouette without turning it into a bulky piece of jewellery.
Moldavite formed after the Ries meteorite impact in what is now southern Germany. The collision generated such intense heat and pressure that terrestrial material was melted and thrown high into the atmosphere. Some of that molten material cooled into natural glass before landing across parts of Central Europe.
The green tektite now known as Moldavite is found most famously in the Czech Republic. Explore more individually fascinating pieces in our Moldavite collection.
One of Moldavite's most distinctive features is its surface. Rather than appearing uniformly smooth, natural pieces may show channels, folds, ridges, pits and etched-looking textures. These features can make a specimen look almost deliberately sculpted even though they are the result of its formation history and long-term geological weathering.
Colour also varies naturally. Moldavite can range from lighter olive and yellow-green tones through mossy, forest and brownish greens. Some pieces allow plenty of light through, while others appear deeper or darker depending on thickness and internal structure.
Necklace D's approximately 3 × 1.2cm proportions make it especially suited to anyone who enjoys a longer, narrow piece where the natural outline remains easy to see.
Tektites are natural glasses associated with meteorite impacts. Moldavite is one of the best-known members of this group because of its distinctive green colour and geographically limited deposits.
It is important to distinguish a tektite from a meteorite. Moldavite itself did not fall from space as part of the incoming object. It formed when the impact transformed terrestrial material here on Earth.
For collectors, that makes Moldavite especially fascinating: it is an Earth material whose appearance and structure were changed by an extraterrestrial collision. Discover other specimens in our Tektites collection.
Moldavite is often sold by weight, and even a difference of less than a gram can noticeably change the size and visual presence of a specimen. At approximately 2.1g, Necklace D sits above many tiny collector pieces while still remaining compact enough for comfortable wear.
The combination of a 2.1g weight and approximately 3cm length gives this pendant more visual impact than a very small fragment. It is still unmistakably delicate compared with larger crystal pendants, but it offers more surface area for natural grooves, colour variation and translucency to be seen.
Because this necklace is individually identified as Necklace D, the listed weight and measurements apply specifically to this piece.
Within modern metaphysical and crystal traditions, Moldavite is strongly associated with transformation, rapid change, growth, new beginnings and expanded awareness. Its dramatic geological origin has helped shape much of the symbolism that surrounds it today.
Some people choose Moldavite during periods of personal transition, while others simply appreciate the mythology, rarity and unusual geology surrounding the stone. These associations are spiritual and metaphysical traditions rather than scientifically established effects.
A crystal meaning card is included with the necklace.
The silver tone of stainless steel provides a crisp contrast against Moldavite's natural greens. On an elongated piece like Necklace D, that simple finish helps prevent the setting from competing with the stone's shape and surface details.
The result is jewellery that feels clean and contemporary while still showcasing something distinctly irregular and natural. It works equally well for crystal enthusiasts, tektite collectors and anyone who prefers jewellery with a real geological story behind it.

Moldavite is natural glass, so it should be handled carefully. Avoid dropping the pendant onto tiles, concrete or other hard surfaces, as impact can cause chips or fractures.
Store it separately from heavier jewellery where possible and avoid abrasive cleaners. A soft cloth is generally sufficient for routine care. Keeping the necklace away from harsh chemicals will also help maintain the appearance of the stainless steel components.
