Lesokolla is a rich man living in rural Lesotho. Lesokolla and his wife Botle are unable to have children. He marries a second wife, Baratang, in order to have an heir.
After Baratang gives birth to two sons, his first wife also has a son, Tshitso. Since Tshitso is the official heir to Lesokolla¿s wealth Baratang plans to eliminate both him and his mother Botle.
Lesokolla asks his friend Mokopu to protect Tshitso, unaware that Mokopu is part of a conspiracy to eliminate Lesokolla and his son. Tshitso survives the evil plan. Mokopu is driven out of the village when a sangoma points him and Baratang out as the guilty parties in the disappearance of some chickens. Mopheme steals Mokopu¿s horse and leaves him a note.
Mopheme disguises himself as a madman, Metsi, in Chief Phefomoloha¿s village and reveals Baratang¿s illegal dealings.
