At the heart of the design, four Sotho shields are crossed with clubs and spears forming a Victoria Cross motif that represents protection and leadership. The central image features King Moshoeshoe I, while the sacred mountain Thaba Bosiu appears along the border the historic stronghold from which he built his kingdom.
