Mosquito nets are one of the basic tools in the fight against malaria. If the mozzies can't bite you then that probably cuts down your risk of getting malaria quite considerably! If we may point out the biggest thing to be careful of when using mosquito nets is that you don't end up sleeping against the net, because you can be bitten through the net. There should be a gap between the net and the bed so it is important to buy the right size net. These nets are light and compact and pack into a convenient carry bag.
These nets are impregnated with an insecticide for extra protection in that they can discourage other biting insects (such as bedbugs). The insecticide will initially disorientate the mosquito, and eventually kill it if it flies into the net too many times. A few hints on the proper care and treatment of your impregnated net:
Do not wash with detergent - you can wash them a few times by hand without soap though.
Avoid sunlight - the UV destroys the insecticide
Store it in the bag supplied in a cool dark place
Pyramid style
Top diameter 65cm
height 2.7m
Bottom diameter 12.5m
Weight 500 grams
22 holes per square cm
The 22 holes per square cm try and cut down on the one drawback of sleeping under a net, feeling hot because of a perception that the air is not moving.
Essential for those going into malaria areas as part of your anti-mozzie strategy.
