The author starts off with a short hisory of the "discovery" of the coast around Mossel Bay by Bartolomeu Dias. Then there are chapters on the expansion of the Eastern boundary and the first grants of loan land in the vicinnity of Mossel Bay which were made from 1729 onwards. Chapter five deals with the establisment and growth of the "dorp" Mossel Bay. Chapter six deals with development of the harbour "Then" and "Now". The Light House and shipwrecks (with photos). He also tells about the Boating Company's offices, opening of Gouritz bridge in 1892 and the famous Mossel Bay basket. "Days to Remember" deals with the opening of the Railway Line and Victoria Park; opening of the first Golf club House and The Santos Pavilion. The last chapter deals with the modern Mossel Bay and it's Councillors of the day. Many white and black as well as colour photos.
