This book was written to achieve two goals. Firstly for mothers to be able to read and learn about other mothers' experiences including their difficulties and their joys. It's important that mothers know they are not alone but that every situation is different. Secondly to pass on basic psychological skills and strategies which are incredibly useful. The title reflects the author's belief that motherhood is a very individual thing. No two women will experience motherhood in the same way. As such the book is not telling women how to do motherhood but rather about encouraging women to explore their own issues and to find ways to solve them so they can enjoy motherhood to the fullest. There are no right or wrong answers. MOTHERHOOD is not a parenting book. Throughout the book the reader will find exercises that require their input. The authors believe that these exercises are perhaps the most important components in each chapter as they are the vehicles for change. You will also notice that many areas overlap across chapters. No issue in motherhood occurs in isolation. Not just a book for women men might also find this book helpful in understanding a little better the joys and challenges that all mothers experience.
