Motherly Love op. 4 is a mixed media artwork utilizing a flame fractal design on the lions fur created by the artist, Dr. G. Michael Durst. It is hand-glazed with many layers of acrylic paint and varnish to bring out the beautiful colours and to create a three dimensional effect.

By utilizing lustrous textures, vivid patterns, bold colours, and light radiance, the process involves dozens of carefully designed, richly coloured layers, to create jewel-like images that inspire and delight.

The determined lioness carries her impish cub showing the love and protectiveness that motherhood embodies. This art work goes beautifully with the male lion called Fire Lion also listed on this site.
