MOVs are commonly used in circuits to protect the circuit from spikes and surges that may occur when the power line is unstable. They are very similar to a Zenner diode, but they can operate at a much higher speed than a Zenner diode. They are commonly used in power supplies, surge protectors and other electronic equipment that requires a very stable output line. Many industries also make use of MOVs to shield motor drivers from outside disturbances or voltage spikes that may occur.
A MOV can operate under DC or AC conditions. The DC voltage rating for this specific MOV is 22V and the AC voltage rating for this MOV is 22V.
