These are graded, uncirculated, with a barcode and hologram, they come in a tamperproof see-through presentation holder. Professionally graded and certified coins command higher prices than raw, uncertified coins. Rare coins are one of the few remaining investments that can be accumulated and transported from place to place. These are the fastest appreciating coins in all history and there are no taxes payable on these coins.
A MS67 90th Birthday Coin sells for R25'000.00, or a MS66 for R3’500.00 each. You could later progress to the Proof 1994 and year 2000 coins. All these are good coins to have. A brief history of the coins is in July 2005 they were selling for R735.00 per coin, they showed exceptional growth and today they are worth thousands of rands. The middle range coin grade i.e. MS65 year 2000, now sells for R57'000 only four years later, the 90th Birthday coin is more in demand than even the others were and these will also show very good growth based on past experience of the Mandela coins. (Ungraded and circulated coins would only be worth R5.00 whether they are the birthday or inauguration coins, other currency coins unless in pristine condition would be worth their face value only). It therefore makes sense to buy a graded coin and they start at R3500.00 for a MS66.
These rare coins represent a part of history which is important too. You are also offered certified quality and greater investment protection. Rare coins can be sold easily at market values all over the world. Rare coins are disappearing from the market and being added to collections faster than dealers can replace them.
There are limited supplies of rare coins available, but at the same time there is also an ever-increasing demand for rare coins, pricing is based on the rarity of the coin by the demand. With the influx of overseas visitors we are expecting next year these coins will become more scarce and more expensive and we also have worldwide demand for them, would say get them while they are still affordable!
