Description
A large and beautifully hand-blown Murano glass clown attributed to the Barbini workshop, identified by the crowned R gold foil label on the body. This striking piece is full of colour and personality, made with layered hot-worked glass, millefiori-style patches, a sculpted face, applied ruffled collar and clear glass arms. A substantial display piece with strong presence.
Design details
The body features multicoloured starbursts and patterned glass panels encased in clear crystal. The collar and arms are applied clear glass, while the hat, face, shoes and detailing are individually sculpted. The crowned R foil label confirms Barbini studio production. The figure stands firmly on heavy black glass shoes.
Condition
Good vintage condition with no chips or cracks visible from the photos. Light base wear appropriate for age. Colours remain bright and clear, and all applied elements are secure.
