THIS ELEGANT & SOPHISTICATED COLLECTOR'S ITEM IS AS RARE AS IT IS BEAUTIFUL!

WITH EXBOR ACID ETCHING ON ITS BASE!

AN OPPORTUNITY TO OWN A MUSEUM PIECE

A FACETED EXBOR VASE WITH METAL INCLUSIONS DESIGNED BY PAVEL HLAVA (1924-2003) FOR EXBOR IN 1964 : WINNER OF GOLD MEDAL AT THE 1967 LEIPZIG EXHIBITION

A RARE OPPORTUNITY TO OWN A HIGHLY SOUGHT AFTER LUXURIOUS PIECE OF GLASS

Made by Borské sklo, Nový Bor glassworks for Exbor. An Exbor vase with silver chloride and metal inclusions, cut and polished facets, the core encased in colourless glass. Hlava produced the first designs of this type in 1964 and won the Gold Medal for this design at the 1967 Leipzig Trade Fair. The monumental form and coloured internal design make this as much a sculpture as a functional vase.

A scarce and highly sought after collectors item.

- Height: 180 mm / Width: 135 mm / Weight : 1,978 kg

- Good vintage condition with slight surface scratches and minor indications of wear on its base.

LITERATURE

- Hill, Mark. SKLO Czech Glass Design from the 1950s-70s, reproductions on pages 6 and 152 (above).

* Please note that glass from the mid-20th century is vintage glassware and age related signs of wear such as small fine surface scratches/marks should be expected. The items are hand-made, they may have imperfections such as bubbles, inclusions and lumps within the glass. Tool marks from where they have been shaped and worked in the manufacturing process can often be seen. As this indicates authenticity and forms an inherent part of the character of handmade crystal glass, these are normally not considered as faults by collectors.

* This magnificent item is original and rare, hand-made Czech art glass (and not Italian Murano, Daum, Kosta Boda, Orrefors, Flygsfors, Swarovski, Leerdam, Val St Lambert, Whitefriars or Lalique studio glass). I personally handpicked & imported this rare beauty from the Czech Republic for my private collection.
* Appreciation and acknowledgement to Messrs Mark Hill, Jindrich Parik and the Vychodoceske Museum for their invaluable archival and comprehensive reference material. XKOBUIC2
