Hardcover published by Sampson Low, Marston and Company, 1896, no jacket, and now protected in cellophane. Minor wear and marks to the boards, and the beginnings of a split to the gutters of front and rear paste-downs, the rear a bit more advanced. There is a small ink stamp of a previous owner on the first end-paper, and again on the half-title page. All 8 illustrative plates are present. There is a crack to the binding between pages 32 and 33, showing some netting, and several pencil lines at points of the text on various pages. There is some soiling to the top external rough-cut page edges.
