AN INTERESTING AND UNUSUAL ITEM. A VINTAGE EGYPTIAN GOOD LUCK COIN FOB AND CHAIN.
ON THE FRONT SIDE FEATURES A PYRAMID AND PHARAOH HEAD. THE BACK IS BLANK. IT HAS A RING ATTACHED TO A CHAIN.
Egyptian Magic Coins are coins with Egyptian symbols which have been made since 1905. They were originally part of watch fobs but were then manufactured as independent items. The standard Egyptian Magic Coins had symbols of an Egyptian Pharaoh, Pyramids or a Sphinx on them.
A watch fob is a short ribbon or chain attached to a watch and hanging out of the pocket in which the watch is kept. Until World War I and the development of the wristwatch, most watches designed for men had to be carried in the pocket. The term later on was also used to refer to any item or small ornament hung at the end of such a ribbon or chain.
