1982 baie groot hardeband boek in goeie toestand. Die omslag is egter reeds bietjie verweer, het skeure en wrywingsmerke.Kaartjie geteken deur Anton Rupert is voorin geplak. 108 bladsye. Born on a farm in Botswana in 1925, Zakkie Eloff was educated at Pretoria Boys High School, where he received his first art training under Walter Battiss. He continued his studies in art at the Witwatersrand Technical College in Johannesburg and subsequently at the Central School of Art, London, where he concentrated on lithography and etching. Here his enduring admiration of Rembrandt and the Japanese masters, Hiroshige and Hokusai began.Zakkie then travelled extensively in Europe and Africa. On his return to South Africa he taught for a period at the Pretoria Art School before taking up the position of Game Warden at The Etosha National Park (1962-68). He found his niche in life and he began to build up vast first-hand knowledge of animals, the Bushmen and the ecology of the area which he recorded in numerous beautiful drawings. A book of Zakkie Eloff's drawings entitled "Drawn from Life" was published in 1982, with text by Sue Hart.Eventually Zakkie realized that to paint full-time he would have to sadly relocate himself from the involvement of Etosha. Hence in 1969 Zakkie moved to Mpumalanga, where he set up a studio. From his studio, in the picturesque area of White River, some of the finest and most penetrating wildlife paintings in Africa have emerged. They are the result of Eloff's extensive art training, his practical knowledge of and love for his subject matter.Works by Zakkie Eloff are in private collections in South Africa, England, Germany and America. He is also represented in the following public collections in South Africa - Ann Bryant Gallery, East London; Hester Rupert A Museum, Graaff-Reinet; Pretoria Art Museum; University of Pretoria; University of South Africa; Willem Annandale Art Gallery, Lichtenburg; William Hump Art Gallery, Kimberley.Eloff began exhibiting his works in 1942 and has participated in exhibitions in Namibia, South Africa, the UK, Spain, Israel, Argentina, Australia and San Paulo in Brazil. In 1952 he held the first of a number of solo exhibitions. In 1987 he was honoured with a Retrospective Exhibition, jointly with his wife René, at the Pretoria Art Museum. Most recently Eloff's paintings have largely been featured on the International wildlife and Natural History Exhibitions held at The Everard Read Gallery.
