Plants form small, multi-headed tufts. The roots are thick and tuberous. They can flower any time of the year, the flowers are honey-scented and open up just after midday. These plants are best grown in pots but in suitable areas they can also be planted out into a rockery as well. Similar to Nananthus transvaalensis, but smaller and more compact in size. Flowers also differ, being a rich, butter yellow in N. wilmaniae
