National M7 VHS Video Recorder Model NV-M7AM

The recorder does switch on. Pressed eject and tape compartment opened, and I noticed the lens adjusting automatically. The tape compartment refused to remain closed once the tape was inside. Tried holding it shut and pressed play, the lights came on but tape did not play. Tried setting the dates on the screen and that does work.

Pressed rewind and fast forward the lights shone red and I could hear movement but again I think it did not want to work because of the tape compartment not remaining closed.

I unplugged the recorder and realized the battery is dead after charging for approx 30 mins.

Overall condition of the recorder is good.
