 If we were looking at almost any other gem an inclusion of anything would devalue the gem. This however is not the case with certain quartz varieties and some other gems
 
Crystalized (Macrocrystalline) minerals usually forming into a prismatic or twinned configuration inside another mineral produces a beautiful stone.
 
 
Rutile is a crystalized mineral composed primarily of titanium dioxide (TiO2) which crystallizes in a tetragonal crystal system, Microscopic to larger inclusions of rutile is found in quartz, tourmaline, corundum and other gemstones. A gem with larger inclusions (visable to naked eye) of rutile needles trapped inside a quartz is called a Rutilated quartz. Rutile can be golden, brown to red. Each pattern is different and some are breathtakingly beautiful.
 

Tourmalinated Quartz - this variety shows black or dark green tourmaline crystals in a thicker, rod-type inclusion. This can be in heavy patterns and sprays or random spikes.
