NATURAL UNTREATED LARGE 21.28CT BI-COLOUR IMPERIAL TOPAZ GEMSTONE WITH BEAUTIFUL OVAL CUT RARELY SEEN IN THIS SIZE
AN VALUABLE AND RARE LARGE 21.28CT BI-COLOUR IMPERIAL TOPAZ GEMSTONE WITH A BEAUTIFUL OVAL CUT. COMES WITH A BEAUTIFUL PERSPEX PRESENTATION CASE AND VELVET BAG.
Imperial with its distinct peach, pink, orange, brown or champagne hues, is the rarest topaz variety. The primary source is the Ouro Preto mines of Minas Gerais, Brazil. Desposits were also found in the Urual Mountains in Russia. In fact Imperial Topaz was named in honor of the Russian monarchy who prized its luxurious golden-sherry hues.
THIS PARTICULAR STONE WAS BOUGHT INN 2011 FROM A SELLER IN SOUTH AFRICA WITH THE ORIGEN OF THE STONE INDICATED AS BRAZIL. IT HAS A VVS (EYE CLEAR) CLARITY WHICH MEANS IT IS FREE OF INCLUSIONS AS SEEN WITH THE NAKED EYE WHICH IT APPEARS TO BE. IT WAS ALSO SOLD AS A NATURAL UNTREATED BI-COLOUR IMPERIAL CHAMPAGNE TOPAZ GEMSTONE.
TESTS PERFORMED: SCRATCH TEST: IT DID SCRATCH A GLASS WINDOW PANE WHICH WOULD INDICATE IT IS HARDER THAN GLASS. (MOHS HARDNESS GLASS 5.5-6.5 TOPAZ 8.0) UV LIGHT TEST: NONE TO SLIGHTEST OF ORANGE ON THE SIDES UV REACTION. (THE UV LIGHT HIT THE ELECTRONS. THEY JUMP AND FALL BACK. THEY RADIATE LIGHT OF A CERTAIN WAVELENGTH WHEN THEY DO WHICH IS SPECIFIC TO EACH ELEMENT IN THE MINERAL. THIS IS CALLED FLUORESCENCE.) ONLY 10% OF GEMSTONES EXHIBIT A FLUORESCENCE AFFECT LIKE RUBIES, SAPPHIRE, TOPAZ, OPALS AND DIAMONDS. GLASS AND ALL NATURAL QUARTZ VARIETIES DOES NOT SHOW A UV AFFECT. Natural sherry-brown, pink, or golden yellow topaz may show a weak to strong orange-yellow fluorescence. GEMTESTER TEST: NO GEMTESTER TEST PERFORMED. (These testers separate gemstones from one another based on their thermal conductivity or the rate at which electricity or heat transfers through the stone and are very accurate.) THIS TOPAZGEMSTONE HAS A SUPPLIED GISA (GEMMOLOGY INSTITUTE OF SOUTHERN AFRICA) CERTIFICATE. THIS COMPANY DOES NOT APPEAR TO HAVE A GOOD REPUTATION ONLINE. THEY COULD NOT BE CONTACTED BY CONTACT DETAILS SUPPLIED ON THE BACK. THERE IS NO WEBSITE TO CHECK PAST REPORTS THAT I COULD FIND. I DO NOT KNOW IF STILL IN EXISTENCE. TO THEIR CREDIT THOUGH I HAVE SEEN REPORTS BY THEM WHERE THEY BY MY OWN CONFIRMATION HAVE NOT EXAGERATED OR LIED ABOUT A STONE.
SIZE: 19.93mm x 15.06mm x 9.25mm
DISCLAIMER: I AM NO GEMSTONE EXPERT. THESE GEMSTONES BELONGED TO A FAMILY MEMBER THAT HAS PASSED AWAY. HE COLLECTED GEMSTONES DURING THE EARLY TWENTY FIRST CENTURY MANY WERE BOUGHT ON EBAY AND OTHERS BY TRAVELLING TO OTHER COUNTRIES. I HAVE TRIED TO VERIFY AS FAR AS POSSIBLE ANY STATEMENTS OR CLAIMS BY DOING SOME RESEARCH AND PRELIMARY TESTS ON EACH GEMSTONE.
TOPAZ: Topaz is a semi-precious gemstone formed from magma deposits. Chemically its made up of silicone, aluminum, and fluoride. Certain chemical impurities and differences will give it a unique color and appearance. Today, topaz deposits are found in Brazil, United States, Madagascar, Myanmar (Burma), Namibia, Zimbabwe Mexico, Sri Lanka, Pakistan, Russia, and China. Common topaz in its natural state is colorless, though trace element impurities can in rare instances make it pale blue or golden brown to yellow orange. Topaz is often treated with heat or radiation to make it a deep blue, reddish-orange, pale green, pink, or even purple. Color is the most important factor for Topaz. Irradiated Blue topaz and colorless topaz are very affordable and widely available. Natural occurring red, pink and orange colors are rare and valuable and rarely found in larger carat sizes.
