IN AN AGE NOT SO LONG AGO MANY GENTLEMAN SHOWCASED A PROPERLY MANICURED MOUSTACHE. OF COURSE THE HAIRY BRISTLES CAME IN THE WAY OF THE MORNINGS CUP OF TEA.
AND THE MOUSTACHE CUP WAS BORN TO ACCOMMODATE.
 
AN NEAR ANTIQUE (1925-1929) CARL TIELSCH ALTWASSER SILESIA (FORMERLY AUSTRIAN GERMANY  NOW IN POLAND AFTER 1945) MOUSTACHE CUP AND SAUCER DUO. THE CUP HAS A INNOVATIVE RESTING PLATFORM FOR A GENTLEMANS MOUSTACHE IN ORDER TO DRINK HIS TEA.
 
ITS A WHITE PORCELAIN CUP AND SAUCER WITH GILD OVERGLAZED BANDED DECORATION. THE SAUCER IS SIMILARLY DECORATED.

SAUCER 15CM DIAMETER 2CM HIGH
 
CONDITION: NO CHIPS. NO CRACKS.. SOME GOLD GILT LOSS.
 
CARL TIELSCH ANTWASSER MARK FROM BETWEEN 1925-1932:
At first, Tielsch only marked his products with the initials 'TPM', which stood for Tielsch Porzellan Manufaktur. Since this appeared similar to the 'KPM' used by the Koniglich Porzellan Manufaktur, the two snakes curling around a stave were added at first, only to be replaced completely by the eagle from 1847 onwards.
THE CUP IS MARKED ON THE UNDERSIDE WITH THE EAGLE WITH CT ALTWASSER SILESIA UNDERNEATH IN GREEN WAS USED BETWEEN 1925 AND 1932. USUALLY THE YEAR WAS STAMPED IN A TWO LETTER CODE UNDERNEATH LIKE 25 FOR 1925 OR 32 FOR 1932. OUR CUP HAS NO DATE STAMP. THE SAUCER IS NOT MARKED. IT IS A MATCHING SAUCER THOUGH WITH THE CENTRAL RING FITTING EXACTLY WITH THE CUP.

CARL TIELSCH PORZELLAN (1845-present): 
Carl Tielsch founded the Altwasser factory in 1845. It swiftly became second largest porcelain factory in Silesia (now in Poland). After twenty years the factory employeed 1,400 employees. Products of the Tielsch factory quickly became known for its high quality and artistic values. Their quality was compared to porcelain manufactures from Berlin or even Meissen.
During 1932 Tielsch merged with Hutschenreuther  and the factory in Altwasser became a division of the Hutchenreuther company.. Everything went well for the next few years, but on May 8th 1945 the town of Waldenburg was occupied by Russian troops and was put under Polish government. The Tielsch family fled, losing their castle and the complete porcellan facility in Altwasser.
At first, parts of the facility were dismantled by order of the Russians but then the facility continued to produce again with the help of a few remaining German workers. Now under Polish supervision they used one of the last Tielsch marks with the addition 'Made In Poland' until 1952 when the facility was completely nationalized.
The factory is producing to the present day and is now called "Fabryka Porcelany Wałbrzych S.A.".
