Since first arriving on consoles in the mid-90s, the Need for Speed series has gone on to become one of EA’s flagship racing titles. With the likes of Need for Speed – SHIFT taking on a more realistic bent, Need for Speed – Hot Pursuit brings players back to the fast-paced police chases of old. Developed by Criterion Games, makers of the destructive Burnout series, players can take control of both cops and racers as they tear through the city streets at breakneck speeds.
In a similar vein to Criterion’s Burnout Paradise, both the single player campaign and multiplayer aspects of Hot Pursuit are linked, allowing players to connect to each other’s game sessions and share pictures and challenges. Players also have access to weapons and equipment during a race, helping to take down escaping racers or outrun the cops.
